The Brattleboro Food Co-op has hired Bread Loaf Corporation to do a planning study for the re-development of their store and amazing, downtown site.  We will look at both renovating the existing store and the possibility of building a new building that “operates in a way that has less and less negative environmental impact, and helps to restore and regenerate our environment,” as stated by the Co-op’s shareholders.

‘Stone Soup’ was the official kick-off of our planning study.  The day-long session of idea exchange was very exciting and effective.  This website serves to document the events of that day and communicate progress moving forward.

A draft of our planning study will be ready in late January for shareholder and community input and feedback.  We hope to incorporate comments into the design by the end of February so the Co-op can make a decision as to how they will proceed.

Ideally, project fundraising/financing, design development, and construction documentation would proceed through 2008 and early 2009 with construction beginning in the middle of 2009 and ending in 2010.
